Construction - getting there

We are getting there.  I am excited to see our new space finished, with fixtures in place, and artwork displayed.

My construction crew, Dave and Joe, have worked hard for two weeks.  We are almost ready to move the artwork into place.

I read today in a blog that I follow, "Put down the perfection mirror and just show up.  It does a soul good".  (Quinn McDonald).  Well, we aren't going to be perfect for ArtWalk, but we will be open and exhibiting wonderful artwork by seven artists.


ArtWalk opened yesterday at noon.  I looked up and down Washington Ave, seeing the Green Venue Cones and the Arfwalk Dogs.  Our downtown looks great!   Our seven artists' work is displayed.  Stop in and say "HI" at the new gallery at 104 Washington.  Next week, we move, it will be a busy but fun week.  I am going to show up and let it all unfold.

We're Moving!

I haven't written on my blog in a long, long time.  I decided it was time to resurrect it.  We have had a fun 18 months in Harbourfront Place.  Vera Armstrong, owner of Euroflora, has decided to retire.  We are going to take this opportunity to move onto Washington Avenue, in Grand Haven.  

We will have more space for our artists and more working room for my work in ceramics.  PLUS, the opportunity to have art classes.  

ArtWalk begins on Wednesday, September 19 at 10am.  We will be hosting 7 artists in the new space at 104 Washington.  They will be available through out the event to talk with you. The original gallery will be open in Harbourfront until we need to make the move happen.  My plan is to close for two days, work hard with the help of fellow artists and friends, and re-open in the new space.  I will let you know when that happens.  

In the meantime, stop in, check out our fantastic Michigan created artwork.  Mostly Michigan. All friends though.

Wow! It's July!!

I can't believe it is July. This winter I made the decision to open a gallery in downtown Grand Haven. Thanks to a small push by Tony Clennell. The name of it is C2C Gallery. New Year, New Snow, and new pots

Its gorgeous outside. Lots of snow in the trees. Schools were closed today. The roads are quiet. My gas kiln is humming along. I have some new vase forms and many trays in this firing. During the Holidays, I worked on a business plan for 2011. To date, I am on track. But, it is the first month of the year. I hope that I can stick to it. I believe it is a reasonable one. Four summer sales around the midwest. Two Guild sales. Two sales with other arts groups. I am presenting work in two galleries, one in June and one in July. Also, working my etsy store, continually. We will see what 2011 brings for c2ceramics. Happy New Year!

Tulips in December!

You have to love Michigan's winters. We can go from three feet of snow to 40 degrees and slush, slop, and gray days. Today is one of those days. Strangely, it makes me just a bit happy because I can look out my studio windows and see that in the next day or so, I will have a clear path to where I make my glazes and clean up the buckets when I am done. I was so busy getting ready for the Holiday sales that I didn't have a chance to top off my glaze buckets for the winter months. I think I might get my opportunity in the next couple of days! It is strange what gets me excited these days.

Brian brought home red tulips last week. It was such a nice idea! A different type of red during this very red and green holiday season. A suggestion that spring will arrive in the near future. Brian purchased them at Wealthy at Charles in Grand Rapids. It is a unique store in our area. Time to get into the studio.

Getting ready for the New Year

Brian and I went to Chicago this past week to see my son and his girlfriend. We also had tickets to hear Elvis Costello and Alejandro Escovedo perform in the Chicago Theater. Alejandro was awesome. Costello was ready to rock and roll. He played by himself for over two hours with seven different guitars. His voice was strong and he was very present on that stage. So wonderful to see some one at the top of their art form. I spent an entire day at the Art Institute. They have some marvelous exhibits showing currently. Tapestries and Ancient Oriental Bronzes, plus an Aztec exhibit. The tapestries that I photographed spoke to me. I won't be surprised if some of the information translates into my work this winter. I hope every one enjoy the next two weeks with family and friends.
